Update: Fitbit rushes out Galaxy S4 sync beta

October 31, 2013   All wearables, Smart wristbands   12 Comments

It appears that Fitbit is trying hard to resolve the Bluetooth sync issue with Fitbit Flex and Galaxy S4 phones, after fobbing off disgruntled users with doublespeak for the last week.

Yes Sir we are in Beta

Yes Sir we are in Beta

Earlier today the Fitbit app on my Galaxy S4 reported: “Fitbit’s sync feature for Android is in Beta”. So nothing’s changed there, except that I’m now actually allowed to use it during the tests …

Update January 2014: Fitbit claims to have now fixed the problem, but judging by the amount of traffic this page is getting, we wonder if that’s the case. Still stuck? Let us know!

Which Fitbit app version do you have? I have 1.8.2 and it doesn’t give me option to try to sync my S4 at all in the way you show on your screen shot.

I also have 1.8.2. It was a one-off option, maybe you clicked through without noticing?

Weird. I have deleted all Fitbit app data. Uninstalled it. Downloaded it again. And no, I never get that option. Oh well. 🙂 Thanks for your reply anyway and keep up the informative updates.

As long as your phone is syncing … if it is not, have you enabled Bluetooth?

Yes everything is set as it should be, Bluetooth is on etc, but the App is not even trying to sync on my S4. It just shows that “There are known issues…” text at the top of the app. Currently I am letting my iPod Touch sync with Fitbit instead.

Makes me wonder whether Fitbit switched mine on to stop me complaining?

I now did: Force stop. Clear data. Uninstall. Downloaded and installed the Fitbit app from November 6th from the Play Store. Aaaand same story as before, “There are known issues…”. That “Got it” screen on your picture never appears.
